Two-button reset for Surface Pro that won't start
Hold Volume Up + Power for 15 seconds, then release both. Wait 10 seconds. Press Power normally. This is Microsoft's standard two-button reset that forces a firmware-level restart on Surface tablets stuck at a black screen or in a boot loop.

Clean the Type Cover connector with compressed air
The Surface Pro Type Cover attaches via a magnetic connector on the bottom edge. If the keyboard isn't detected, power off the Surface, detach and reattach the Type Cover firmly. Use a short burst of compressed air to clean both the tablet and keyboard connector contacts. Dirt or debris is the most common cause of Type Cover disconnection.
