Restart in the correct order
Power off router and modem. Wait 60 seconds. Power on the modem first and wait until all lights are solid (about 2 minutes). Then power on your Netgear router. This sequence ensures the modem establishes connection before the router requests one.

Access admin via IP directly
If routerlogin.net doesn't load, type 192.168.1.1 directly into your browser address bar (not search bar). Default login credentials are admin / password — change these to something secure after first login.
