Fix It Yourself
Try these steps before calling. They resolve the majority of common Blink issues.
1
Blink cameras only connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi
Blink cameras do not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi. If your router broadcasts both frequencies with the same name, separate them in your router settings or create a dedicated 2.4 GHz network for Blink devices to ensure reliable connection.
2
Use lithium AA batteries — not alkaline
Blink's 2-year battery claim assumes Energizer Ultimate Lithium or similar lithium AA batteries. Alkaline batteries in outdoor or cold-weather conditions can drain up to 5x faster. Always use lithium batteries in Blink outdoor cameras.
3
Adjust motion sensitivity zones to reduce false triggers
In the Blink app, tap your camera → Motion Settings. Draw motion zones that exclude busy roads, swaying trees, and reflective surfaces. Lowering sensitivity reduces false alerts and conserves battery life.
shield Warranty & Coverage
Blink cameras include a 1-year limited hardware warranty. Amazon Prime members may receive extended support options. Blink replaces defective units under warranty through Amazon's return/replacement process.
quiz Blink FAQ
Common questions answered by our research team.
add Does Blink require a subscription?
No subscription is required to use Blink. With the free tier, you get Live View and basic features. Blink Subscription Plan ($3/month per camera or $10/month for unlimited cameras) adds 60-day cloud video history. The Blink Sync Module 2 also allows free local storage via USB drive.
add How long do Blink camera batteries really last?
Blink claims up to 2 years with lithium AA batteries based on 5 motion clips and 1 Live View per day. Heavy users (many daily triggers, Live Views, or cold weather) will see 6-12 months. Use the Blink app's battery health indicator to track current battery level.
add Can I use Blink without the Sync Module?
Blink Mini and some newer Blink cameras (Outdoor 4, Indoor 4th gen) can operate directly over Wi-Fi without a Sync Module. However, the Sync Module 2 is required for local USB storage, and some older cameras require the Sync Module to function.
add Does Blink work with Alexa?
Yes — Blink is an Amazon company and integrates fully with Alexa. You can ask Alexa to show live views on Echo Show devices, receive motion announcements, and trigger Alexa routines based on Blink camera events.
add What is the maximum range for Blink cameras from the Sync Module?
The Blink Sync Module communicates with cameras via Wi-Fi — not Bluetooth or a proprietary RF signal. Camera range is determined by your home Wi-Fi coverage. Place your router or the Sync Module within strong Wi-Fi range of the cameras.
